Christina McCorkell, Facility Manager & Riding InstructorWith 20 years of riding experience, Christina’s passion for horses has spanned many years, beginning in the discipline of western pleasure and now with a main focus on dressage. She provides her students with a strong foundation of skill preparation, theory, excellent sportsmanship, all while maintaining a fun and professional atmosphere. Christina is certified in emergency equine first aid and is also working towards her Equine Canada competition coach certification.

Christina’s strong passion, combined with the love of horses within her family lead to the creation of Chriscon Farms in 2001, with the name being derived from Christina and Connor, "Chriscon". For many years the farm was run by various stable hands as the family enjoyed horse ownership on a personal level. In 2014 the decision for the brother and sister management team to run the facility was made, as they saw opportunity to be a local leader in equestrian services.
The private riding school now teaches close to 60 students, with an emphasized focus on quality and professionalism. Their strong commitment to world-class rider education has led to clinics with olympians, as well as up and coming FEI riders.

Connor McCorkell, Summer Program CoordinatorBorn into a horse-loving family, Connor has been surrounded by horses for his whole life. Like Christina, he was introduced to horses from a western training background, successfully showing his AQHA pleasure horse for many years.
Connor is currently enrolled at the University of Guelph, where he is studying Animal Science, primarily that of horses and livestock (swine, bovines and poultry). He has a keen interest in both equine nutrition and exercise physiology, and enjoys approaching health on a preventative basis. His current studies are looking at nutrition and metabolism. After his masters of science, Connor plans to pursue his doctorate in animal medicine. |
In 2000, the McCorkell family purchased Reign of Thunder, a Standardbred gelding by Astreos, who became a Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame Inductee. Reign of Thunder successfully raced throughout Canada, earning himself the winner of the OSS Grassroots Finals in 2007. His name was eminent within the region, successfully putting the farm on the map. Sadly, Reign of Thunder was injured in 2008 and it was decided to retire him on the farm. Soon after this experience within the horse racing industry, the McCorkell family shifted their focus to another side of horses –dressage. Connor and his sister were introduced to dressage with various FEI Grand Prix riders and to this day they are still enjoying the harmony of horse and rider with dressage on their third and forth level trained horses.

Beth Norrad, Senior Riding Instructor, (BHSII)Entering into the equestrian world at eight years old, Beth quickly discovered her love of horses with her pony, Mr. Bo Jangels (Buster). Beth and Buster spent 8 years together, working in the discipline of survival, how to stay on and how to land properly, the norm with a pony.
Fast forward to University life, Beth studied with Mr. Phillip Hinson, an examiner for the British Horse Society, an elite equestrian – a rider with the King’s Troop at Buckingham Palace and Head Horseman for the Queen Mother. During this time, Beth discovered the harmony between horse and rider and the elegance of classical riding as she lived and rode in England. |
Beth moved to Toronto, Ontario and launched Eden Park Equestrian Centre Inc. with Blair Williams, International Show Jumping Course Designer. Beth and Blair had a roster of 250 riders and 40 horses in their care, knowledge and guidance. Many of the Eden Park riders are now competing on the circuits, are coaches and have successful show barns of their own. These riders have excelled in everything from Grand Prix to professional horse racing.
Beth brings an exclusive look into the horse world with a combination of classical training and all around horsemanship with “cowboy” logic. Beth believes that a strong foundation will allow you to advance in the horse industry, in whatever direction you choose to go. We are excited to have Beth on the team at Chriscon Farms as an instructor.
